Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Quiz: how much do you know about the plot and characters? Take the test!
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a 2016 film based on J.K. Rowling's novel of the same name. It is the first installment in the Fantastic Animals series as well as the first film set in the same world as Harry Potter, but 70 years earlier. Set in New York City, the film tells the story of magical creature scholar Newt Scamander. Newt had traveled to New York with the idea of staying there for a short time to attend a rally of the anti-wizardry sect of the Second Salemians, called by Mary Lou Barebone. During the rally, however, Newt loses his snaso, a fantastic animal that escapes from his suitcase. In an attempt to retrieve the animal, the wizard embarks on a chase that culminates in the accidental exchange of the suitcase with the muggle, Jacob Kowalski. Upon returning home, Jacob will discover the fantastical animals contained in the suitcase. The film then chronicles the vicissitudes of the wizard Newt in New York City. For now, the sequel to the film has been produced in 2018, but J.K. Rowling has already announced that the saga will consist of five films. The film is based on the 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's book, which rather than a book was a small booklet containing a list of fantastic animals. The screenplay for the film, therefore, is entirely original. Moreover, the screenplay was written by J.K Rowling herself, and this distinguishes Fantastic Animals and Where to Find Them from the Harry Potter films. The track of the film and the subtrack focusing on the more historical side of the years are of great quality. The film, however, comes across as a bit slow. In addition, the film won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design, making it the first film set in the Harry Potter world to win an Oscar.
